Position description
The Department of Otolaryngology at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence across its faculty, staff and student body and is seeking otolaryngologists with a focus in laryngology to join its faculty.
The selected candidates will participate in the tripartite mission of the University of California, San Diego, encompassing clinical care, research, and education. Responsibilities will include providing excellent patient care, contributing to the department’s scholarly and research mission, and engaging in the teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
If appointed to a title covered by the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree.
Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in otolaryngology.
Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must have completed a laryngology fellowship by the start date of the appointment.
Candidates with experience in resident and medical student education are preferred.
Candidates with experience in laryngeal framework surgery and/or office-based laryngeal procedures are preferred.
Candidates with a record of scientific investigation and peer-reviewed publication are also preferred.
