Position title: Assistant Professor
Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $125,000-$140,000. The posted UC Academic salary scales set the minimum pay as determined by rank and/or step at appointment. Position description

The University of California, San Diego invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute (HDSI). We seek outstanding candidates from ALL areas of Data Science, as represented within HDSI's research scope, to fill multiple open positions. Among areas of particular interest are:

1) Machine Learning Systems and Efficiency
2) Data Security
3) Computer Vision and Deep Learning

All candidates are expected to establish a vigorous program of high-quality, federally-funded research that focuses on innovations in one of the targeted search areas. This position involves teaching university students. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in support of the Data Science major/minor degree programs offered by the Institute.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

PhD or equivalent degree, or Advancement to Candidacy, in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.

Evidence of and/or demonstrated ability of scholarly impact and research productivity.

Evidence of and/or demonstrated ability to teach and advise students.

Preferred qualifications

Ideal candidates will have an outstanding record of research accomplishments, excellence in teaching and service, and a commitment to support diversity, equity and inclusion at the university.
