Position description

The Jacobs School of Engineering at UCSD has multiple opportunities for temporary, non-tenure track lecturers (Unit 18) in our Masters of Advanced Studies (MAS) Degree Programs as well as in our "ENG" Programs. Lecturers with the "ENG" programs may be affiliated with IDEA Center, the von Liebig Center, the Gordon Center, the E4 Maker Space, or other educational programs affiliated with the Jacobs School Dean's Office.

The Jacobs School of Engineering is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.

Lecturers in the MAS Degree Programs will teach at the graduate level in one or more of the following master's degree programs: Wireless Embedded Systems (WES), Convergent Systems Engineering (CoSE), Cyber-Physical Social Systems (CPSS), Value Supply Chains (VSC), Architecture-Based Enterprise Systems Engineering (AESE), Data Science and Engineering (DSE).

Lecturers in the ENG programs will teach courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.

In addition to the currently listed ENG courses, new ENG courses may also be offered and we are looking for individuals to teach these courses, as well. Please check the ENG course list throughout the year for potential additional courses.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Master's degree in Engineering or a related field. (2 years of professional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.)

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Minimum of one quarter or semester teaching one or more courses, either as Instructor of Record or as a Teaching Assistant. Equivalent industry experience such as a minimum presenting one or more seminars, or conducting one or more trainings may be substituted for teaching experience.

Preferred qualifications

Ph.D. in Engineering or a related field
