Position description

The Department of Mathematics, within the School of Physical Sciences at UC San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.

The Department is looking for candidates in all areas and specialties of mathematics. The Lecturer will teach preparatory math courses, including precalculus, depending on the needs of the department. Duties include instruction in courses on topics related to mathematics. The Lecturer will likely be teaching a few courses per week and will hold office hours for students. Appointments range from one (1) or more quarters based on departmental needs.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Master's degree in Mathematics or a related field and 1 or more years of teaching experience.

Preferred qualifications

Experience teaching large classroom sizes (100-300 students)
Outstanding teaching evaluations
Prior post-secondary level teaching experience
