Position title: Obesity Medicine
Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $252,000 - $272,400. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

Faculty Positions in General Internal Medicine. The Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is actively recruiting Academic Physicians.

We seek applicants interested in providing care at a multidisciplinary obesity center and providing primary care at a general internal medicine clinic.

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality training and teaching, the clinical care of patients, and/or research.

The appropriate series and appointment will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a MD, DO or equivalent and be Board certified or Board eligible in Internal Medicine.

Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with clinical experience in managing patients with lifestyle interventions, anti-obesity pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery are preferred.

Candidates certified/eligible by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) or have completed an Obesity Medicine Fellowship endorsed by the Obesity Medicine Fellowship Council are also preferred.
