Position title: Rheumatology, Autoimmunity, & Inflammation (RAI)
Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $139,500 - $213,500. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Division of Rheumatology, Autoimmunity and Inflammation (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/medicine/divisions/rai/pages/default.aspx) in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is recruiting outstanding faculty for tenured positions.

The Department of Medicine and Division of Rheumatology, Autoimmunity, & Inflammation seek candidates who have a demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

The successful candidates will have the exciting opportunity to facilitate clinical and translational research in the area of arthritis and inflammatory processes within a great university and prominent health system. The selected candidates will be responsible for providing leadership, teaching, research and/or patient care.

The appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, or PhD with an emphasis relevant to Rheumatology, Autoimmunity, and Inflammation.

Candidates must have 5+ years of a track record of clinical, translational and/or basic research. Candidates must also have an independent extramurally-funded research program (NIH R01 or similar) and 5+ years of research in high impact journals with 1+ grants and/or publications in rheumatic diseases.

Candidates with a MD or equivalent with clinical duties must be Board certified or Board eligible in Internal Medicine and must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with national recognition in research are preferred.
