Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $86,500 - $297,200. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Family Medicine at UC San Diego (familymedicine.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for one or more faculty positions in the areas of research.

The Department of Family Medicine has approximately 250+ personnel including 85 salaried faculty and Management and Senior Professional (MSP) physicians and 82 core and affiliated trainees, residents, and fellows. Department missions total approximately $70 million: $30 million annual clinical budget, $30 million research portfolio, and $10 million annual department budget including teaching and self-supported programs. Under the leadership of the Interim Chair, the Department is currently undergoing significant strategic planning efforts. This includes the management, strategic growth, and improvement of four faculty practices focused on value-based care and innovative care models across Family Medicine, Sports Medicine, Behavioral Health, and the Clinical Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM).

The selected candidates will be responsible for clinical, translational, and/or basic research, working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams including family medicine physicians and/or trainees, teaching, service, and/or clinical practice.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience. Positions may be full-time or part-time subject to funding. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded or partially self-funded, e.g., with grants.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a PhD, an MD/PhD in Family Medicine or related fields, or an ND, MD, or equivalent.

Candidates with an MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates with clinical care duties must have an MD or equivalent and be board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine.
