Salary range: ​A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $64,480-$77,327. ​

Position description

The Institute for Learning-enabled Optimization at Scale, TILOS, an NSF-funded Artificial Intelligence Institute at University of California, San Diego has multiple openings for Postdoctoral Scholars.

Successful candidates will conduct research on the foundations of AI and optimization, and for use-cases of chip design, robotics, or communication networks. The postdoctoral scholars will be based at UC San Diego, be mentored by one or more researchers and PIs, and may spend up to one quarter per year at partner institutions: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Pennsylvania, University of Texas at Austin, and Yale University. Positions are normally for two years and may include concurrent teaching in an academic department. Appointments and salary are commensurate with research experience and accomplishments following current UC San Diego guidelines.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

PhD completed or nearing completion (CPhil) by time of application, in one of the following fields: computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics or a field related to optimization, chip design, robotics, or communication networks.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

PhD conferred by time of appointment.

Preferred qualifications

Exceptional, self-motivated candidates with outstanding research records are encouraged to apply.

Candidates with experience in teaching and/or contributing to an academic climate of equity, diversity, and inclusion, are preferred.
