Position description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://ortho.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is recruiting for a highly skilled and dedicated Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeons to join our dynamic team at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, including call coverage responsibilities, teaching, and education at our various UC San Diego Health locations. Participation in active research activities and initiatives may be at the discretion of the selected candidates related to orthopaedic trauma.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Qualifications
Candidates must:
• Have an MD or equivalent, or an MD/PhD in health-related fields.
• Have completed a U.S.-accredited residency training program in Orthopaedic Surgery
• Have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the California Medical Board.
• Be American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certified or eligible.
Candidates must have completed fellowship training in Orthopaedic Trauma by the time of the start of the appointment.
Demonstrate high-quality orthopaedic trauma care in a Level 1 Trauma Center
Candidates with demonstrated evidence of scholarly contributions in clinical, translational, and/or basic research are also preferred.
