Position description
The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/ophthalmology/pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body is recruiting Ophthalmology Researchers.
The successful candidates will interact with a wide range of translational and basic science programs at UCSD to enhance national recognition of the Shiley Eye Institute research programs.
The selected candidates will be responsible for the teaching and training of medical students, residents, and fellows in our educational programs as well as clinical research, translational research and/or basic research.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Candidates must have a MD, MD/PhD or PhD in health related fields.
Candidates must have a current research program in a health related discipline with a track record of obtaining extramural funding and productivity with regard to peer-reviewed publications.
