Position description

The Department of Literature within the School of Arts and Humanities at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We invite applications for Temporary Lecturers in American literature. The successful applicant will have expertise in pre-1865 American literature and is expected to teach one pre-1865 American literature upper-division course for the Winter 2024 quarter. The UCSD Winter 2024 quarter begins January 3rd and ends March 23rd.

Appointment is part-time, with a start date of January 1, 2024. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

● ABD in English, Literature, or other related field at the time of application

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

● Ph.D. in English, Literature, or other related field at the time of application
● Applicants must have at least one year of experience teaching literature, writing, or composition courses at the university level
