Position title: Assistant Professor
Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $97,000-$130,000. ​

Position description

The Department of Mathematics (http://www.math.ucsd.edu), within the School of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. We invite applications for a position at the Assistant Professor level in all areas of Mathematics and Statistics. The position is subject to availability of funding.

Teaching and research in mathematics and related topics will be expected. Ideally, candidates will have skills and interest in teaching lecture courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on UC pay scales. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2024.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The candidate must be ABD in Mathematics, or a closely related field at the time of application
Evidence of and/or demonstrated ability of scholarly impact and research productivity.
Evidence of and/or demonstrated ability to teach and advise students.
Evidence of contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field prior to the start date.

A successful candidate should have a well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase the access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences.
