Position title: Pediatric Ophthalmology
Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $82,200-$235,400. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego (http://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/eyes/Pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.

The Department of Ophthalmology, Shiley Eye Center, UCSD Vision Research and Rady Children’s Hospital are expanding and recruiting physicians specializing in Pediatric Ophthalmology.

The positions will be academic appointments with clinical, educational, teaching and translational research responsibilities. Clinically the successful candidates will contribute to a robust pediatric ophthalmology practice serving the children of San Diego at both the Rady Children’s Hospital via the Rady Children’s Health Network and the UC San Diego Ratner Children’s Eye Center. The amalgamation of Rady and UCSD resources into one program represents an exciting and unique opportunity.

The appropriate series and appointment will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent, or MD/PhD in health related fields.

Candidates must be Board certified or Board eligible in Ophthalmology and have completed fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology.

Candidates must also have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with strong clinical skills, outstanding productivity, and an interest in translational research are preferred.
