Position title: Pediatric Medical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics
Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $175,000-$255,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is currently seeking to expand the Medical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics team. We are seeking applications from physicians or physician-scientists to fill the following positions:
• Clinical Geneticist
• Metabolic Geneticist
• Clinical Director

The Division is actively involved in clinical care, research, teaching, and service. Our program sees more than 4,000 patients per year in a variety of clinics, which are primarily outpatient at Rady Children's Hospital‐San Diego, a top ten US News & World Report ranked Children’s Hospital. We also see patients at the UCSD Medical Center, throughout Southern California, and in Mexico.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, patient care, inpatient consults, and outpatient genetic clinics, and multidisciplinary team settings. The teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows is also expected, along with continued scholarly contributions to clinical, translational, developmental and/or basic research.

In addition, the successful candidate for the Clinical Director position is expected to provide clinical leadership which includes oversight of divisional budgets, quality improvement activities, and direction for members of the Division. Clinical activities could reflect the candidate’s specific interest as well as the general genetics program.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or MD/PhD in Health-related fields and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must be board certified or eligible in Medical Genetics and/or Biochemical Genetics. Candidates must also have solid clinical experience and/or research focus in Genetics.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with evidence of regional or national involvement in education and/or research activities (societies, conference presentations, abstract reviews, publications, grants, and others) are preferred. Candidates with experience providing leadership in teaching, research, or service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment are preferred.
