Position description

The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego (http://pathology.ucsd.edu/) in the Division of Neuropathology is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking a junior-level, diagnostic neuropathologist who is also committed to clinical teaching and research.

Candidates with demonstrated excellence in diagnostic ability across all areas of neuropathology, competency interpreting molecular and genetic tests, and strong teaching skills are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have an MD or DO. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California and be board eligible or certified in anatomic pathology and/or neuropathology. Candidates must have completed a fellowship in Neuropathology and have completed at least four years of post-MD or DO training.

Candidates with academic activity are preferred.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.
