Position description

The Department of Literature at UC San Diego invites applicants to teach Beginning level Korean Language classes during the 2020-2021 academic year. One lecturer will teach 5 courses in the year, and another lecturer teaches 4 in the year. Qualifications for successful candidates are as follows:

  1. M.A or Ph.D. in Korean Language, Linguistics, Language Acquisition, Language Education or related fields by the time of appointment
  2. Minimum of 3 years of Korean language teaching experience at the university level (preferably at a North American Institution)
  3. Native or near-native proficiency in Korean and Advanced proficiency in English
  4. Experience in teaching Korean language using computer technologies and the Internet resources.

Candidate’s CV should demonstrate excellence in teaching Korean. M.A or Ph.D. degree is not required for applicants who have at least 10 years of experience teaching Korean at a North American Institution

Salary and level of appointment are based on qualifications and UC pay scale.

Proof of authorization to work in the U.S. will be required prior to and through the employment period (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1985).
