Position description

The UC San Diego Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and the Rady School of Management jointly invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank. We seek candidates who have training in computer science or related disciplines with experience in industry-facing applications and who apply algorithmic, data intensive, and analytic technologies to improve business decisions, socially innovative product architectures, or transform business models. Candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithmic game theory, business models, multi-sided markets/platforms, computational finance, or predictive analytics are preferred, although we will give serious consideration to all candidates. Candidates who have experience or are willing to engage in activities that contribute to diversity and inclusion are also preferred.

We seek applicants with outstanding research credentials to hold a joint appointment with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Rady School of Management. Candidates are expected to be active in both units and contribute to cross-disciplinary research and education with a vigorous research program and educational offerings. The successful candidate is expected to teach University students at the undergraduate and graduate level.

A Ph.D. or advancement to candidacy in Computer Science & Engineering or Management Sciences or related disciplines is required at the time of application. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications in conformance with University of California policies.

In addition, the department works closely with the Center for Networked Systems (CNS), the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (CalIT2), the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), and the Center for Wireless Communications (CWC), which provide unique opportunities and resources. The Rady of School of Management is home to over 30 faculty who focus on various topics of managerial decision-making, innovation and entrepreneurship, business analytics, enterprise growth and social welfare maximization. The School is home to the California Institute for Innovation and Development (CIID) and Rady Center for Business Analytics.

Depending on area of specialization, selected candidates will also have the opportunity to work closely with, or even hold an appointment with, the cross-campus Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute, whose mission is to contribute to the scientific foundations for data science and benefit all existing units on campus.
