Position description

The Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) in the Division of Clinical Pharmacy at UC San Diego (http://pharmacy.ucsd.edu) is seeking outstanding applicants with practice expertise in Economics, Social and Administrative Sciences (ESAS) (e.g., humanistic outcomes evaluation, pharmacoepidemiology, cost-effectiveness analysis, comparative effectiveness research) for a position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and mentor students inside and outside of the classroom. The candidate will also engage in related clinical practice and scholarly activities. The candidate will develop clinical research programs focusing on translational research, improvement of therapeutic outcomes, population health, and value-driven care.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in clinical and/or research field(s), experience in teaching and obtaining research funding, and a record of accomplishment and promise for academic advancement.

Board certification in a specialty area and eligibility for California pharmacy licensure is highly desirable. Strong clinical service, leadership and teaching experience are highly valued. High priority in selection will also be given to candidates with formal research training or have equivalent experience with an outstanding record of scholarly achievement, demonstrated by publications, grant funding, and other creative accomplishments. The applicant should have clinical and/or research expertise that complements or expands the current programs of SSPPS and advances our mission of elevating pharmaceutical care, health outcomes, health equity, and pharmacy training. Desired expertise includes but is not limited to the social and administrative sciences related to regulatory affairs, pharmacoeconomics, policy analysis, real-world data evaluation or outcomes research.

Salary, appointment rank, and level will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on published UC pay scales for the Health Sciences.

SSPPS is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. SSPPS accepts only post-baccalaureate students, has a joint curriculum with the UC San Diego School of Medicine, and is competitive nationally for the top tier of pharmacy school applicants. Current enrollment is 240 Pharm.D. students, 60 Ph.D. students, 23 pharmacy residents and three fellows. A large proportion of its graduates are selected for post-graduate training at competitive institutions. SSPPS is based at the world-renowned La Jolla campus of UC San Diego with year-round access to both winter and summer recreational activities. UC San Diego is ranked fifth in the nation in federal funding for research with total awards exceeding $1.1 billion per year and is simultaneously the youngest institution among the top 25 ranked. Clinical faculty work collaboratively with our globally renowned SSPPS pharmaceutical sciences faculty in drug discovery, development, and translational medicine. SSPPS faculty also engage in collaborative clinical practice and multidisciplinary research at several major affiliated health-systems and organizations in San Diego and throughout the world.
