Position description

The Jacobs School of Engineering (JSOE) Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering together with the School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) at UC San Diego invite applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in Energy Systems Engineering and Public Policy. The University of California, San Diego is committed to building an excellent, diverse and inclusive faculty, staff and student body (http://www.jacobsschool.ucsd.edu/diversity/).

These abilities should be demonstrated via publications and research that include both quantitative engineering analysis such as operations research and/or energy systems engineering, coupled with policy and economic elements.

The successful candidate will be expected to build a research program grounded in both GPS and JSOE, and teach University students within the existing undergraduate energy-focused engineering courses, and build out MS level and PhD-level energy-focused courses in both Schools.

A Ph.D. degree or advancement to candidacy at the time of application is required in the area of Energy Systems Engineering, Engineering and Public Policy or Relevant Social Sciences, or a related discipline. We especially welcome candidates who have contributed to programs that increase the access and success of underrepresented students or faculty in engineering and who are committed to, and experienced in, building an excellent and diverse academic environment.

Rank of position is at the Assistant Professor level.

Salary: Level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications; salary based on UC pay scales and market conditions.
