Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego

Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) seeks outstanding candidates for an Associate or Acting Associate Professor position in theoretical/computational geophysics. We invite applicants with expertise in modeling of geophysical signals or processes, improved methods for data analysis/inversion, mathematical descriptions of relevant physics, and high-performance computing and/or machine learning applied to geophysical problems. Possible areas of interest include, but are not limited to: geodynamics, crustal deformation and geodesy, mineral physics, planetary science, remote sensing, marine geophysics, potential fields, geomagnetism, electromagnetic methods, seismology, and cryosphere studies. Emphasis will be on selecting a candidate with interest and experience in developing new methodological approaches rather than applications of existing geophysical techniques.
