The Program for the Study of Religion based at the Department of Literature within the Division of Arts and Humanities at UC San Diego (, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student population.

We are seeking applicants for temporary lecturer position for Religion 2, Comparative World Religions, in Fall 2018.

Religion 2 is an introductory course to the comparative study of religious traditions of global significance. Although historical aspects of these traditions will be studied, emphasis will be placed on religious beliefs and practices as manifested in contemporary world. The course also provides introduction to a wide range of themes and traditions ranging from scriptures to ritual cultures in connection with complex interplay between ethnicity, class, race, and gender.

The candidate should be capable of teaching in religious studies and demonstrate excellence in teaching, as well as professional recognition. Qualifications include Ph.D. or ABD in religious studies and strong or potential accomplishment in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and in advancing UC San Diego’s commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.
