THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO (UCSD), DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS http://www.pediatrics.ucsd.edu), AND RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF SAN DIEGO (http://www.rchsd.org ) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seek applicants for clinician educator or clinician researcher in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

The fourteen-member Hospital Medicine division provides inpatient medical care at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego (RCHSD), the largest children’s hospital system on the west coast (520 licensed beds) with over 200 medical and surgical subspecialists and strong relationships with community pediatricians. RCHSD is the only children’s hospital and Level 1 trauma center in San Diego and Imperial Counties, in a metropolitan area of 4 million people. The division is home to one of the first Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowships in the country. The Division is active at the state and national levels in the area of patient safety, medical education, and clinical quality improvement.

Candidates must have an MD and completed a Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship, or have at least 5 years of active experience in the pediatric hospital medicine that includes consistent medical student and resident teaching. The candidate must have California medical license/eligibility, board certification in Pediatrics and a history of active work in pediatric hospital medicine.

Ideal candidates will have evidence of regional or national involvement in PHM education and/or research activities (societies, conference presentations, abstract reviews, other).

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
