The Ethnic Studies Department (http://www.ethnicstudies.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to building an excellent and diverse faculty, staff, and student body, and invites applicants whose experience have prepared them to contribute to our commitment.
Candidates are required to have:
-a Ph.D. or equivalent, or expect to receive their Ph.D. or equivalent by the start of appointment, in a variety of fields including, but not limited to, Ethnic Studies, Latin American Studies, Gender Studies, Literature, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, and History.
-have at least one position as a Teaching Assistant or Lead Instructor in related disciplines ranging from race and social movements, to cultural and media studies, to legal and science studies.
Preferred applicants have experience managing large classrooms (100-300 students), have outstanding teaching qualifications, have strong demonstrated accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego’s commitment to achieving excellence and diversity. Appointments will range from part-time to full-time and may be extended. Course-loads will range from one course in one quarter up to nine courses over a full academic year - depending on the department's needs and the qualifications of the candidate - and will be determined at time of hire. Instructor will be assigned to teach Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at various times.
