Faculty Position. The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine ( at the University of California, San Diego, invites applications for an faculty member in Endocrinology.

We seek candidates who are pursuing innovative research into the role of glycosylation in lipoprotein physiology, adipogenesis and cardiovascular disease. Topics of interest include the contribution of glycosylation to triglyceride-rich lipoprotein metabolism, Lipoprotein(a) metabolism, metabolic syndrome and atherosclerosis.

The required job duties include developing a forward looking and successful research program, participation in the teaching mission of the unit, research training of graduate and undergraduate students, and service activities related to the Department of Medicine and the Glycobiology Research and Training Center (

Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree in the Medical Sciences and have five years of post-doctoral experience. The In-Residence series requires the candidate to secure extramural funding, so a track-record of the ability to garner research funding will be beneficial.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
