THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY within the Division of Physical Sciences at UC San Diego (http://chemistry.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and invites applications for the Dean’s Excellence search, which includes a tenured or tenure-track faculty positions (at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor) in Biochemistry and Biophysics. All areas of biochemistry & biophysics are being considered. The topic of research may be in all areas of biochemistry and biophysics, broadly defined. Examples include, but are not limited to, cryo-electron microscopy and lipid biochemistry. All positions are subject to availability of funding.
Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field and demonstrated potential for a recognized program of excellence in both teaching and research. In addition, successful candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion in higher education. The ideal candidate will also have skills and interest in teaching biochemistry and biophysics, and related topics in pharmacological chemistry at the undergraduate and graduate levels. A successful candidate must have a well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences. We especially welcome candidates who have already benefited from, contributed to, or created such programs. A successful candidate will also have served as a role model in mentoring others, with a commitment to helping shape and expand the University’s diversity initiatives (http://diversity.ucsd.edu/). Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scale. Review of applications will commence on November 1, 2017, and continue until the position is filled.
