The Department of Family Medicine and Public Health (FMPH) at the University of California, San Diego’s School of Medicine (http://fmph.ucsd.edu), is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for one or more faculty positions interested in an academic career involving the practice and teaching of full spectrum family medicine to medical students and residents.
The Department also offers opportunities to teach and mentor in the Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree program and a PhD program in Public Health administered jointly between UCSD and San Diego State University. The Department has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Centers of Excellence focused on Cardiovascular Epidemiology, Women’s Health, Cancer and Energetics, Tobacco Control, Health Behavior Change in Underserved Populations, Wireless and Population Health Systems, and Integrative Medicine. The Department also provides multiple opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in other School of Medicine departments and in the basic sciences, social sciences, and engineering departments across the UC San Diego campus. Additional opportunities include contributing to a newly established Institute of Public Health as well as collaborating within the School of Medicine.
Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient care and obstetrics. Skills in Integrative Medicine are also of interest but not required. In addition, the role of Office Medical Director may be an added consideration for recruitment. Proven accomplishment in clinical research is desired but not required. Demonstration of scholarly interests and progressive accomplishment will be expected.
Applicants must have an MD or DO, have completed a certified Family Medicine residency training program, be board certified or eligible in Family Medicine, and eligible for licensure in California. Board certification is a requirement of continued employment within two years of appointment. Candidates are expected to show evidence of outstanding qualifications through letters of recommendation, teaching evaluations, and patient satisfaction assessments. Preferred candidates will have demonstrated strong leadership and a commitment to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in an academic setting.
Appointment will be at the HS Assistant, Associate or Full Clinical Professor rank based on qualifications and experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with University of California pay scales.
