THE DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE AND DANCE at UC SAN DIEGO ( invites applications for an experienced Associate Teaching Professor (also termed Lecturer with Security of Employment) in our MFA Professional Acting Program beginning July 1, 2018. This is a tenured position. The UCSD Acting Program is a nationally recognized conservatory-based program within a vibrant Research 1 University. The nationally respected regional theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, is located on the campus and offers artistic opportunities for students and faculty.

The successful candidate will serve as a core member of the MFA Acting Area and will be expected to teach all levels of movement. Candidate will also serve as a mentor to students in and out of production and contribute in all areas of leadership within the area, i.e. recruitment, evaluation, casting, and advising.

Required Qualifications: Must possess a MFA or PhD; extensive experience as a movement instructor and/or coach or director in the professional arena; certification and/or experience in various movement disciplines such as LeCoq, Laban, Feldenkrais, Mask Work, Improvisation, Physical Theatre, Mime, Juggling, Acrobatics, and Circus Techniques.

Preferred Qualifications: University and/ or conservatory teaching experience. Background in developing a comprehensive movement curriculum is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have strong demonstrated accomplishments or plans in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego’s commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.

In order to advance in the Teaching Professor series, the candidate must demonstrate truly exceptional teaching, professional achievement and activity, university service, and educational leadership beyond the campus.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications based on University of California pay scales.
