Position description

The Department of Neurosciences (http://neurosciences.ucsd.edu ) at the University of California San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seek an outstanding Neurologist or Neuroscientist for the Division Chief of Child Neurology at UCSD/Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.

The individual chosen will work with a large and diverse group of pediatric neurologists involved in clinical care, clinical research and trials, basic research and education with our growing Child Neurology Division. The division sponsors an ACGME accredited residency program. The UCSD Child Neurology Group has a clinical base at Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego – the largest pediatric hospital in California. The group provides general child neurology and sub-specialty clinics covering epilepsy, headache, neuromuscular disease, neuro-oncology, neurogenetics, neuro-developmental disabilities, Down syndrome, Rett syndrome, neurodegenerative and metabolic disease, and movement disorders. An active neonatal neurology group provides coverage for three level 3 neonatal units in San Diego.

The Department is especially interested in candidates focused on disorders of the pediatric nervous system as well as candidates who show evidence of (or potential for) program development, leadership, and leading programs related to Child Neurology within clinical activity and/or research.

The successful candidate must have an MD and be board certified in Neurology with a specialty in Child Neurology. Successful candidates must also demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a distinguished research program and be clinically active.

Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Series will include 100% Ladder Rank or 50% Ladder Rank and 50% In-Residence with qualified candidates with secured extramural funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
