The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://ortho.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is seeking a physiatrist to complement our non-surgical Orthopaedic practice.
The nonsurgical service of UCSD Orthopaedics is expanding and the candidate would join the other PM&R and non-surgical physicians in the Orthopaedic Department. Responsibilities include outpatient care and teaching, with opportunities for basic science and clinical research at UCSD facilities. This is an outpatient position without inpatient/consult responsibilities.
Candidates must have an MD or DO. Candidates must have completed an accredited physical medicine and rehabilitation residency training program, be board eligible or board certified, and be eligible for licensure in California. The department is specifically seeking someone who has experience with EMGs and injections. Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.
Preferred candidate will have experience and interest in managing general musculoskeletal conditions, including spine management as well as peripheral joints, arthritis, and general non-operative orthopaedics. Prior experience in an academic teaching institution would be ideal. Candidate should have excellent interpersonal/communication skills, working together with Orthopaedic surgeons to maximize the nonsurgical care of patients at UCSD. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of outstanding qualifications through letters of recommendation, teaching evaluations, patient care activities, and a publication rate appropriate to appointment level.
Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level, in the Clinical series. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
