Position description

THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO (UCSD), DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu), AND RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF SAN DIEGO (http://www.rchsd.org) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. Our Division of Dysmorphology-Teratology has established a new Center for the Promotion of Maternal Health and Infant Development, and invites applications for a Tenured Perinatal Epidemiologist Researcher in epidemiology/public health.

The Center has a focus on prenatal environmental exposures including medications, diseases, chemicals, alcohol and drugs, and the risk of birth defects and other developmental disabilities. UCSD School of Medicine offers a research-intensive environment with multiple opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in UC San Diego’s Reproductive Medicine, Family and Preventive Medicine, The Moores Cancer Center, The Pediatric Diabetes Research Center, and The Clinical and Translational Research Institute.

Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD, with training in epidemiology or a related field. The Division is interested in individuals with backgrounds in epidemiology broadly defined, including training and expertise in nutritional epidemiology, perinatal epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, and/or, molecular or genetic epidemiology. Additionally, applicants should place a high priority on the teaching of medical or graduate students or fellows. Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.

Preferred applicants will demonstrate strong potential to be competitive in the near future in regards to NIH funding.

Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor level. Series will include 100% Ladder Rank or 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding (with partial or full state funding potentially offered).

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
