Position description

THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO (UCSD), DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu), AND RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF SAN DIEGO (http://www.rchsd.org ) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking academic physicians/clinicians to join the Division of Infectious Disease (http://www.rchsd.org/programs-services/infectious-diseases/team/) and the Infectious Diseases subspecialty service at RCHSD.

Rady Children’s Hospital, with 377 beds has expanded its acute inpatient pavilion and is now the largest children’s hospital on the west coast serving about one million children for their medical and surgical care. Rady Children’s Hospital has more than 200 medical and surgical specialists who are university physicians and have strong relationships with community pediatricians.

Candidates must have an MD or MD/PHD, be board certified/board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and be licensable in the state of California, have demonstrable clinical and research experience and skills, along with experience developing clinical/translational research and innovative educational programs. Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity by submitting a Diversity Statement of past contributions and/or future plans of excellence in this area as part of their application for an academic appointment.

Preferred candidates will have experience in inpatient and outpatient infectious diseases clinical care, and/or the successful completion of a 3 year accredited fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable and relevant clinical care skills, have the potential for or existing funding of research endeavors, have leadership experience, and be prolifically published in peer-reviewed journals.

Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor rank. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank and 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
