UC San Diego and the Department of Pathology (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks applications for a faculty position in the area of microbiome research and human infections in our planned Center for Emerging Infections.

The Department of Pathology at UCSD is one of the top funded research Pathology programs in the country. Advanced diagnostic testing takes place in a new, free-standing, 90,000 square foot facility, the Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine. Significant opportunities for collaboration exist in the Health Sciences Center, our main campus, and in outstanding research institutes such as the J. Craig Venter Institute, Scripps Research Institute, Salk Institute for Biological Studies, Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute, and the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology.

The candidate must hold a M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree and must have a research focus on microbiome or emerging infections research. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of out-standing peer-reviewed publications, an extramurally-funded research program or high potential to acquire funding, and desire to contribute to medical and graduate education. Applications from candidates who are qualified to contribute to our clinical enterprise, with board certification in Clinical Pathology, Microbiology, Molecular Diagnostics, or Internal Medicine/Infectious Diseases are preferred. The preferred candidate will also have strong demonstrated accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Appointment at the Assistant level will include 50% Ladder Rank and 50% In-Residence with extramural funding, and 100% Ladder Rank will be considered.
