Position description

The University of California, San Diego, Department of Dermatology (http://dermatology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and currently accepting applications for a Research Dermatologist.

Applicants must have a MD or PhD or combined MD/PhD and demonstrated ability to conduct a state of the art research program using modern techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, biochemistry, structural biology, immunology, computational biology, bioinformatics, genetics, and/or genomics applied to investigating the biology or diseases of the skin. Candidate must show evidence of their career potential through letters of recommendation and a publication record appropriate for their experience. The applicant is required to teach and perform research training of medical and graduate students as well as University service. Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity by submitting a Diversity Statement of past contributions and/or future plans of excellence in this area as part of their application for an academic appointment.

Clinical duties would include delivery of outpatient and inpatient dermatologic care with subspecialty focus possible based on the training and clinical experience of the candidate.

Appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank and 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
