Position description

The Department of Mathematics within the Division of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (http://www.math.ucsd.edu) is committed to an excellent and diverse faculty, staff, and student body and invites applications for our S. E. Warschawski Visiting Assistant Professorships. These positions are open to any area of pure or applied mathematics (including statistics). The nine-month salary is $62,000. The start date of the next appointment is July 1, 2016. These positions are three-year nonrenewable appointments.

Successful candidates will have:

  • a recent Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a related field, or expect to complete their PhD prior to start of Fall quarter 2016
  • excellent teaching skills
  • excellent research potential
  • research interests compatible with current faculty are preferred
  • experience or a willingness to participate in teaching, mentoring, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment
