Position description

THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO (UCSD), DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu), AND RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF SAN DIEGO (http://www.rchsd.org ) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking academic physicians at the assistant, associate or full rank to join the Division of Emergency Medicine.

RCHSD, a 377-bed level 1 Trauma Center, is the major regional primary and tertiary pediatric hospital and is the clinical home of UCSD Department of Pediatrics. The Division has a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching and research. It runs an ACGME-accredited fellowship and has 5-6 fellows (total) in training each year. We are the pediatric emergency medicine training site for nearly 200 residents and over 50 medical students. The main campus ED has a census of over 85,000 visits per year and we expect over 10,000 per year at our new site. The division also has 4 community pediatric urgent care centers with a combined census of about 50,000 visits per year.

Candidates must have an MD and must be board certified or board eligible in pediatric emergency medicine and will join our staff of 26 PEM BC/BE attending physicians and 9 BC/BE pediatricians to provide coverage at both our main campus and newly opened satellite ED providing the majority of the pediatric emergency care for San Diego county. Candidates must be licensable in the state of California. The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be made in the Clinical Professor series. Rank and series will be determined based on skills and qualifications. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
