Position description

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (ortho.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and is seeking a highly qualified and energetic scientist with strong background in musculoskeletal research with interest in physiology, mechanics, bone biology, and /or other relevant research areas for a tenured, senior faculty position as Vice-Chair of Research. The applicant must have a strong interest in translational applications of the basic science to the practice of Orthopaedic Surgery. Appointment will be at the Full Professor level, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary will be based on published UC pay scales. Candidates should possess a doctoral degree, and postdoctoral training; have a strong record of academic research, including peer-reviewed publications and should have documented teaching excellence. Candidates should demonstrate outstanding ability to obtain extramural research funding from multiple national organizations. Responsibilities will include research and teaching at UCSD, and be an active member of UCSD’s new Clinical and Translational Research Institute (for more information, see ctri.ucsd.edu). The preferred candidate will have demonstrated strong leadership or commitment to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in an academic setting.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
