Position description

The Division of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery (http://surgery.ucsd.edu/divisions/cardiothoracic) in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, San Diego, is seeking an academic cardiothoracic surgeon with special interest and expertise in heart failure, cardiac assist devices, and cardiothoracic transplantation. The division is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks a full-time faculty at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level (series to be determined). The ideal candidates will have a strong track record of clinical as well as scientific work in the field of cardiothoracic surgery and in particular in cardiac assist devices, and cardiothoracic transplantation. The division is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. The applicants must be committed to an academic career, have completed a Cardiothoracic Surgery residency program, be eligible to practice medicine in California, and be board certified/eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
