Position description

The Department of Pediatrics (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu/) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The department has established a new Center for the Promotion of Maternal Health and Infant Development, and invites applications for a faculty position in this Center in epidemiology/public health. The Center has a focus on prenatal environmental exposures including medications, diseases, chemicals, alcohol and drugs, and the risk of birth defects and other developmental disabilities. The Center is interested in individuals with backgrounds
in epidemiology broadly defined, including training and expertise in nutritional epidemiology, perinatal epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, molecular or genetic epidemiology. The successful candidate will have a PhD or MD with advanced training in epidemiology or a related field. Candidates will be considered at all levels: entry level for junior faculty, mid-career or senior faculty. Senior faculty will be preferred. Candidates with NIH will be preferred. For others, it is anticipated that the candidate will be competitive immediately or in the near future in applying for NIH funding. Applicants should place high priority on teaching medical and graduate students. In addition, Applicants with experience working with underserved populations are particularly encouraged to apply. In addition the department is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
UCSD School of Medicine offers a research-intensive environment with multiple opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in Reproductive Medicine, Family and Preventive Medicine, the Moores UCSD Cancer Center, the Pediatric Diabetes Research Center, the UCSD Clinical and Translational Research.

The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong or potential accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego’s commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
