Position description

POSITION:
The Department of Theatre & Dance at UC SAN DIEGO (http://theatre.ucsd.edu), is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, seeks an experienced theatre professional to teach in our MFA professional actor training program, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with tenure, beginning Fall 2014.

This position serves as a core member of a high profile graduate training program and is expected to participate in all facets of the department, including recruitment, casting, MFA student mentorship, and teaching undergraduate courses, with a primary responsibility in the area of classical texts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a MFA or professional equivalence; history of productions and/or publications; strong commitment to teaching excellence; strong potential for continuing their creative activities. In addition, applicants must have significant experience in Classical Text, Shakespeare first and foremost, but experience in other elevated texts -- Moliere, Shaw, Coward, etc. -- is necessary. Applicants with considerable professional experience who have also taught in academic or professional studio settings are strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong demonstrated accomplishments or strong plans in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity.

SALARY:
Commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
