Position description

The Department of Family Medicine (http://familymedicine.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego’s School of Medicine, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body.

We invite applications for one or more faculty positions from those interested in an academic career in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM).

The OMM position is a junior to mid-career faculty appointment and will be in the Centers for Integrative Health (CIH) in the Department of Family Medicine. The CIH serves patients throughout UCSD Health. This faculty member will provide 100% effort comprised of direct patient care across select faculty primary care offices and inpatient units throughout UCSD Health (depending on Department need), teaching medical students and residents in OMM care, and practice-based research and other scholarly activity. Proportions of these activities will be determined by faculty interest and funding availability.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Position may be full-time or part-time subject to funding.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)

Candidates must have a MD or DO degree.

Additional qualifications (Required at Time of Start)

MD and DO candidates must have completed AOA or ACGME-certified Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine residency training program or have equivalent experience and be Board certified or Board eligible in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine or have equivalent certification at the time of hire.

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license as determined by the Osteopathic Medical Board of California or Medical Board of California at the time of hire.

At the time of the new appointment, proposed candidates must show evidence of outstanding qualifications through letters of recommendation, teaching evaluations, and patient satisfaction assessments.
