Position description

The Department of Mathematics, within the School of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (http://www.math.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and invites applications for our Stefan E. Warschawski Visiting Assistant Professorships. This is a broad search that is open to applicants from all areas of pure and applied mathematics and statistics. Positions are subject to availability of funding. These positions are three-year nonrenewable appointments.

Teaching in Mathematics, and related topics, will be expected. Ideally, the candidate will have skills and interest in teaching lecture courses at undergraduate upper and lower division levels.

The nine-month salary is $75,100. The start date of the appointment is July 1, 2023. Review of applications will commence on December 1, 2022 and continue until positions are filled.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)

working towards a PhD in Mathematics or related field.

Additional qualifications (Required at Time of Start)

PhD prior to first quarter of teaching

Preferred qualifications

A clearly designed program of excellence in both teaching and research.

A well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase the access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences.
