Position description
The Department of Neurosciences at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) (http://neurosciences.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seeks a Neurologist to join our interdisciplinary group as Professor and Co-Director of the Parkinson and Other Movement Disorders Center (POMDC).
The recruitment of a clinical scientist physician whose own research program aligns with the goals and resources of the POMDC will enhance the research and clinical aims of the Center. The POMDC and its fellowship program will benefit from a senior clinician researcher and leader in the field who will play an important role in teaching, patient care and research and who can, at the same time, step into administrative and leadership roles.
The successful candidate will provide outpatient care to movement disorder patients and mentor junior faculty and teach graduate students, residents, and clinical and research fellows/staff. The candidate will work in our hospitals and clinics at the La Jolla and Hillcrest locations and will be encouraged to interact with a wide range of clinical, translational and basic science programs at UCSD to enhance the national recognition of the Center’s research and practice. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the POMDC designation of Parkinson’s Disease Center of Excellence by the Parkinson’s Foundation as well as the LBD Center of Excellence designation by the Lewy Body Dementia Association and CurePSP Center of Care.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
