Position description
The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism (http://med.ucsd.edu/) in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and is currently recruiting outstanding faculty for tenured positions.
The successful candidates will have the exciting opportunity to facilitate clinical and translational research in the area of type 1 diabetes within a great university and prominent health system.
UC San Diego seeks candidates who will establish independent and vigorous extramurally-funded research programs, who have a demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research or service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
The appropriate appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor Rank based on candidate's experience and qualifications. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD and/or PhD with an emphasis relevant to Endocrinology and Metabolism. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in internal medicine and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates must also have national recognition in clinical, translational, and/or basic research with a history of extramural research funding and publications in high impact journals.
