Position description

The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego
(https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/eyes/Pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department is seeking experienced and dynamic candidate(s) in Cornea Ophthalmology.

The successful candidate(s) will join the Cornea division in clinical care at multiple sites, research and educational programs. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for providing high quality training and teaching to medical students, residents and fellows and participate in clinical and/or basic research.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)

Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or PhD in health related fields.

Candidates with an MD must be board eligible or board certified in Ophthalmology. Candidates with an MD must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/ permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with experience and training in cornea/corneal specialty, in-patient medical and surgical cornea and external disease, laser, diagnostic imaging & minor procedures are preferred.
