Position description
The Department of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine at UC San Diego (http://psychiatry.ucsd.edu/Pages/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body are seeking outstanding applicants for non-tenured/non-tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level.
UC San Diego Psychiatry faculty provide exceptional clinical care, cutting-edge research, and educational excellence.
Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the educational mission of the University. Successful candidates will have a clinical focus in Outpatient Geropsychiatry.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications
Candidates must have MD or equivalent and experience in a discipline illuminating the nature, mechanisms, and treatment of various disorders seen in Geriatric Psychiatry. Candidates with an MD and looking for a position with clinical responsibilities must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board. Candidates must have fellowship training in Geriatric Psychiatry or be double boarded in Family or Internal Medicine and Psychiatry.
