Position description

The Anthropology Department at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, and invites applicants whose experience have prepared them to contribute to our pedagogical mission.

Teaching expectations are based on the needs of the department including large, introductory courses in applicants' sub disciplines and possibly upper and lower division courses, related to their own research interests. Appointments will be part-time or full-time, from one quarter up to one year in duration, with the possibility of extension to a subsequent year.

For this Transition Year only, we will be using AP Recruit to review current/internal appointees and also collect applicants. This process was created to streamline efforts these efforts as the campus transitions to the new process for Unit 18 Lectures.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. most preferably with training in Anthropology or a related field. Candidates must have experience in (or potential for) teaching undergraduates and must demonstrate strong or potential contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the context of a large public university.

The Department invites applicants to apply for positions as temporary lecturers who have teaching experience or potential for teaching at least one of the following areas:
• Archaeological Anthropology
• Biological Anthropology
• Environmental Anthropology
• Linguistic Anthropology
• Psychological/Medical Anthropology
• Sociocultural Anthropology

Experience in or potential for teaching undergraduates.
