Position description

The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology (http://oto.ucsd.edu/default.aspx) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seek general otolaryngologist(s) to join our Division.

This position includes a commitment to research and education. Focusing on participation in patient care, medical student teaching, resident supervision, on-call, research and projects leading to expansion of the clinical service.

The faculty member will be expected to devote up to 50-90% of their time to clinical care depending on clinical and research skills and mix.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate of Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
  • MD or related degrees and Board certification or eligibility in Otolaryngology

  • Successful completion or anticipated completion of an AHNS approved fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology

  • Candidate must also be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California
