Position description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego (https://pediatrics.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are currently seeking new clinical faculty in General Pediatrics to join our Division of Academic General Pediatrics, Newborn Medicine, and Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.

The Division has clinical practices in multiple locations providing outpatient medical care for children, adolescent, and young adults aged birth to 21 years. Our team is comprised of exceptional faculty and staff committed to providing outstanding clinical care and training for the next-generation of pediatricians. In addition to clinical excellence, we are proud to have several faculty members with highly successful teaching and research programs that reflect the wide range of needs in breastfeeding, travel medicine, eating disorders, medically fragile and diagnosis resulting in developmental/behavioral issues. As a result of our superior faculty, the Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego has earned the respect of the international community as one of highest ranked teaching programs within the institution.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be board certified/eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics and have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the California Medical Board.

Preferred qualifications

Preferred qualifications for this position include fellowship training in General Pediatrics and/or Adolescent Medicine, and/or Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, or two years of equivalent clinical experience, and a proven ability to work collaboratively across Pediatric disciplines. The preferred candidates will be academic physicians with strong clinical skills and interest in medical student/resident education and teaching.
