Position description

Faculty Position in the Comprehensive Breast Health Center. The Division of Hematology/Oncology (http://med.ucsd.edu) in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are currently recruiting another breast surgeon and breast radiologist.

Selected candidate(s) will continue to help expand this robust program, with a commitment to excellence in patient care, clinical research, and participation in the educational activities including teaching of the Division.

The Division is actively recruiting clinicians to expand our Comprehensive Breast Health Center, with interests in therapeutics as well as survivorship. Access to our donor funded breast cancer registry, cancer center funded biorepository and statistics group are just a few of the resources available to support faculty research.

The Comprehensive Breast Health Center is located in the Moore's Cancer Center, the only NCI designated cancer center in the region. It is multidisciplinary in nature and is one of the most rapidly growing cancer programs at UC San Diego. Our center currently operates with 3 breast trained surgeons (including our leader with dual training in plastic and reconstructive surgery), 6 breast focused medical oncologists, 3 breast focused radiation oncologist, and 3 breast radiologists. We offer most services at 2 sites and radiation and 3 sites. We are expanding with a new building at our secondary sites that will offer surgery, infusion, radiation, and breast imaging.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. In-Residence appointments may require candidates to be self-funded. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent . Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Medical Oncology, and have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with a track record of research is preferred.
