SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (USA). The Department of Pathology at the University of California San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks an academic head, neck & cardiothoracic pathologist to join the Division of Anatomic Pathology.
The successful candidate will primarily attend on the subspecialized head, neck and cardiothoracic pathology service of the Anatomic Pathology Division, with clinical responsibilities for specimens associated with robust organ transplant, general care and cancer programs at the Rebecca and John Moores Cancer Center (the region's only NCI-designated Cancer Center), Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center and Cardiovascular Institute, Jacobs Medical Center, Hillcrest Medical Center, and the Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion at UC San Diego Health, as well as our referral/outreach/consultation programs and an expanding clinical integration network. Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows is also expected.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Candidates must have a MD, MD/PhD in health related fields, or equivalent, and have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must also be Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Pathology in either anatomic pathology (AP) or anatomic pathology/clinical pathology (AP/CP).
Fellowship training in Head, Neck & Cardiothoracic pathology is highly preferred, but candidates with demonstrable long term experience signing out Head, Neck & Cardiothoracic pathology specimens in a subspecialized system, will also be considered. Subspecialty expertise in cytopathology is preferred.
